Caring for your land means caring about our environment, especially when it comes to soil and water resources. No matter where you go, from small towns to big cities, down on the farm or back at the ranch, you're always in a watershed. When considering that only one percent of all the water on earth is fresh water, it is vitally important that we protect our streams, rivers and lakes today - for tomorrow's generation.
Conservation and stewardship go hand-in-hand with farming, good lawn care and landscaping practices, and with so many of life's daily activities. For more than 69 years, the Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (OFSWCD) and Ohio's 88 county Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) have worked side by side with farmers, landowners, elected officials and other great conservation partners to protect and enhance Ohio's Natural Resources.
Today, Ohio's waterways are facing increased water quality challenges that must be addressed to ensure a productive and prosperous future. Each and every individual plays a role in the solution to these challenges and through the "4R Tomorrow Program", it is our goal to work with our partners and so many more to educate and promote best management practices including the 4R Nutrient Principles (Right Source, Right Rate, Right Time and Right Place) and Backyard Conservation on our farm fields, as well as on our rural, suburban and urban properties in an effort to promote "doing RIGHT today, for OUR Tomorrow!
