2016 Results: "Ohio's Native Species"

Darke SWCD asked our county schools to participate in the 5th Annual Rain Barrel Decorating Contest. This year's theme was Ohio's Native Species and a record 6 school participated in the contest! 

A panel of 16 judges voted for their top three rain barrels. All rankings were assigned points Below are the results of the 2016 Rain Barrel Contest: (1st=3 pts., 2nd=2 pts., and 3rd=1 pt.). Those points were tallied and the winners were chosen based on who received the most points.

2016 results:
1st place- Ansonia
2nd place- Versailles
​3rd place- Greenville

2015 Rain Barrel Contest: "Celebrating the 60s"

Darke County schools were invited to participate in the 2015 rain barrel decorating contest. The 2015 theme was "Celebrating the 60s". 2015 represented 60 years of Darke SWCD putting conservation practices on the ground in Darke County. Participating schools decorated their rain barrels by recognizing from the 1960s.

2015 results:
1st place- Ansonia
2nd place- Versailles Art
3rd place- Greenville FFA

2014 Rain Barrel Contest: "Farm Scenes from Darke County"

Darke county schools were asked to participate in the 3rd Annual Rain Barrel Decorating Contest.  The 2014 theme was "Farm Scenes from Darke County".  The idea was for participating schools to decorate their barrel using a typical farm scene that may be witnessed around the county; whether it was during planting, harvest or from a livestock farm.

2014 results:
1st place: Ansonia FFA
2nd place: Mississinawa Valley FFA
3rd place: Greenville FFA




2013 Rain Barrel Contest: "A History of Darke County"

All Darke County schools were invited to participate in the 2nd Annual Rain Barrel contest. The 2013 theme was "A History of Darke County."

1st Place: Mississinawa Valley
2nd Place: Ansonia
3rd Place: Arcanum

2012 Rain Barrel Contest

In 2012, Darke SWCD asked the county FFA chapters to decorate rain barrels for use at the Great Darke County Fair display.  Schools submitting a decorated barrel were (from left to right):  Franklin Monroe, Greenville and Versailles.

A panel of judges chose the Greenville FFA barrel as the 1st place entry!
