The 2018 Area IV Envirothon was held on April 24th at Possum Creek MetroPark in Montgomery County. For more information about the Area IV Envirothon or to view scores and all of the photos from the 2018 event click here.
About the Envirothon
The Envirothon is an educational event that challenges the environmental knowledge of high school students. Each school may send three teams of five people each to compete. The top teams at the Area IV competition will move on to compete in the State Envirothon, from where they are given the opportunity to advance to the National Envirothon.

- to promote greater awareness of natural resources and environmental issues
- to heighten understanding of the interrelationships between plants, animals, humans and the environment they share
- to increase student interest in further environmental study
- to celebrate the spirit of competition and excellence
- to encourage young people to become action oriented members of society
- to interest students to explore natural resources and environmental careers

Major sponsorship for the Area IV Envirothon comes from Cargill, Inc., Honda of America and 18 Soil and Water Conservation Districts in Southwest Ohio. Other sponsors of the event are the Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (OFSWCD) and the Ohio Department of Agriculture-Division of Soil and Water Conservation (ODA-DSWC). Professionals from the Division of Wildlife, Division of Forestry, ODNR, ODA, USDA and private industry helped to write the Envirothon tests and staff the various stations.
